First rain in Cairo since we arrived

It rained today in Cairo.  In the neighborhood we were in, we only saw light showers for about 10 minutes, but it was definitely rain.  This is the first time it has rained in the six months we have been here.   The average annual rainfall in Cairo is one inch or less.

The Governor declared a state of emergency.  Libraries, schools, universities and businesses closed.  Dozens of cars had to be towed.  The Boston airport cancelled more than 600 flights.  In some places in Massachusetts, 3 inches of snow fell per hour.  If you'd like to read more, here's a link to an article about it.
