It rained today in Cairo. In the neighborhood we were in, we only saw light showers for about 10 minutes, but it was definitely rain. This is the first time it has rained in the six months we have been here. The average annual rainfall in Cairo is one inch or less.

Meanwhile, back home in Amherst, Massachusetts, the recent snow storm left about 2 feet of snow! Thank you, Mary & Marion, for this photo of your cat in the snow:
The Governor declared a state of emergency. Libraries, schools, universities and businesses closed. Dozens of cars had to be towed. The Boston airport cancelled more than 600 flights.
