Brooms, Buns and Ouds.....Shopping in Jerusalem's Old City

Jeff, Cameron and I spent many hours wandering around and getting lost (but in a good way) in the Old City of Jerusalem.  The endless cobblestone alleys twisting and turning, feeding into the different quarters of the Old City would take a long time to know well.  We contented ourselves with finding the markets (mainly in the Muslim quarter but spilling over a bit into the Jewish quarter) and wandering around some of the back 'roads' as well.  I've always loved African and Latin American markets.  They are the old-fashioned-style malls, but more grassroots since people aren't paying such high overhead as shops in the mall (... though I suspect there is a significant rent to have a shop in the Old City.)

You can buy just about anything you'd need in these markets:
..... like strawberries and dates..
Clothing and musical instruments...
Meats and spices....
Fancy Pottery.....

T-shirts, jewelry and Shi-sha (the smoking aparatus-- see blog entry from a couple months ago..)
Fabrics and pottery....
Dried Fruits, spices, and ouds (the musical instrument on the right below)
Fresh fruit....
Have all your tailor needs met....
Brooms, brooms, and more brooms....
Crosses, Madonna & Child art, and menoras...

Children's clothing...
And definitely delicious baked goods!
